Section 1

What Sancta is

Sancta is a private journal for one family: photographs, written entries, milestones and sacraments from birth to eighteen, which can be rendered as a PDF or ordered as a printed book. It is a keepsake.

In these terms, “Sancta”, “we” and “us” mean the makers of the Sancta app; “you” means the person who holds the account.

Company name, jurisdiction and postal address are to be published in this section, in Section 13 and in Section 14 before launch.

Section 2

Who may hold an account

• You must be 18 or older to hold an account, and the details you give us should be accurate. Keep your sign-in credential to yourself.
• A child’s record is created and controlled by a parent or guardian. By creating one, you confirm that you are the child’s parent or guardian, or that you have their parent or guardian’s permission.
• You are responsible for whom you invite into your family circle, and for what you choose to share with them.
• Billing is per family, at every tier, for every child. One price, every child, always.

Section 3

Your content stays yours

You own everything you put into Sancta. You grant us a limited licence to store it, to display it to the people you have invited, to render the books, PDFs and exports you ask for, and to make the ordinary technical copies — backups, caches, format conversions — that storing a file requires. Nothing else.

That licence exists only to run the service you asked for, and it ends when you delete the content or close your account.

We do not use your content to train models, to sell advertising, or to promote Sancta. If we ever wanted to show something of yours publicly, we would ask you first, and no would be a complete answer.

Section 4

Sharing, and the people you invite

• Every entry is private by default. Sharing is a deliberate act.
• A co-parent joins as a co-author and can add entries of their own. Grandparents and godparents join as viewers, who see what you shared and can comment on it.
• Authors own their entries: only the household that wrote an entry can edit or delete it.
• Where a child’s record is linked across two guardian households, entries created while the households were linked stay visible to each of them. Nobody can lock the other parent out of their child’s memories — a rule that protects the other household from you exactly as much as it protects you from them.
• We cannot police what an invited person does with what they see. Invite people you trust, and ask them to treat a child’s photographs as the family’s, not theirs to republish.
• You can revoke an invitation, a role, or a viewing link at any time.

Section 5

What is free, and stays free

Free, with no time limit: unlimited entries, standard photographs kept at original quality, the timeline, the book view, the PDF render, and a complete export of everything you have saved.

This is the part of Sancta we care most about keeping. Your memories are never held hostage: cancelling or downgrading never removes anything already saved — it only stops new premium capture. Stored video and RAW files from a lapsed subscription remain viewable and exportable.

If we ever found that we could not keep a free promise, we would say so plainly and well ahead of time, and your export would still work.

Section 6

Sancta Plus

• Plus adds video with no clip-length cap, RAW preservation, premium book themes, and a discount on printed books.
• It is bounded by a family media vault that meters only video and RAW files. Curated photographs never count against it, on any tier.
• The vault is sold in three sizes with identical features — only the size differs. Current sizes and prices are shown in the app, in your own currency.
• Plus is billed by Apple or Google. Manage or cancel it there; when you cancel, Plus runs to the end of the period you have paid for. Refunds for store purchases follow that store’s own rules.
• If you are over your vault after downgrading, nothing is deleted — you simply cannot add new video or RAW until you are under the limit again, or have upgraded.

Section 7

Printed books

• Books are ordered in the app and paid through Stripe, at the price shown at checkout, including shipping and any tax.
• They are made by a print partner and shipped to the address you give. Delivery dates are estimates.
• You see every spread before you order. Please look at it. You are responsible for what you print, including having the right to print the photographs in it.
• If a book arrives damaged, misprinted, or materially different from the preview you approved, tell us within a reasonable time and we will reprint it or refund it.
• Because each book is made for you alone, an order can no longer be cancelled once it enters production. Before that, ask and we will stop it.

Section 8

Acceptable use

Sancta is for private family memory-keeping. Please do not:

• upload unlawful content, or content you have no right to upload;
• upload any material involving the sexual exploitation or abuse of a child. There is zero tolerance for this: the account is closed, and the matter is reported as the law requires;
• use Sancta, or the letters it sends, to harass anyone;
• try to reach another family’s record, or probe, scrape or overload the service;
• resell the service, or use it as general file storage or a public publishing platform.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. Except where the law forbids it, we will tell you why, and you will get your export.

Section 9

Deletion and the 30-day trash

Deleting an entry sends it to a trash where a parent can restore it for 30 days. After that it is removed permanently, from the database and from storage.

The trash is a courtesy, not an archive guarantee. If something matters, keep your own copy — the export is free precisely so that you can.

Closing your account deletes your family’s record. Where a child’s record is linked to another guardian household, entries created while the households were linked remain with that household. That is the no-lock-out rule from Section 4, and it applies to you as well as to them.

Section 10

If Sancta ever winds down

Apps in this category have closed before, and taken families’ photographs with them. So: if Sancta ever has to stop, we commit to a minimum of 90 days’ notice, sent by email, with the export working for the whole of that time and at no charge. Your archive leaves with you.

Section 11

What Sancta is not

• Not a medical tool. Growth charts are a keepsake — the digital door frame. They raise no alerts and give no advice. Speak to your paediatrician about your child’s health.
• Not a canonical authority. The liturgical calendar, the saints’ days and the milestone catalogue are offered for a family’s tradition. Your parish and your diocese are the authority, not us.
• Not an official record. A sacrament recorded in Sancta is your family’s account of the day. It is not a certificate and carries no canonical standing; the official record is held by the parish.
• Not a backup of your phone. Sancta is a curated album. Keep your own backups too, and use the free export.

Sancta is provided as it is. We work hard to keep it running and to keep your family’s record safe, but we cannot promise that the service will never be interrupted.

Section 12

Changes to these terms

We will not change these terms quietly. Corrections are published here with a new effective date. Material changes — anything touching price, the ownership of your content, or the promises above — are announced by email before they take effect.

If you do not want to accept a change, you can export everything and close your account, and that costs nothing.

Section 13

Governing law and disputes

This section — the company behind Sancta, the law that governs these terms, where disputes are heard, and the limits of liability — is being completed with counsel. It will be published here, and announced by email, before it takes effect.
